"Jon, That's a very nice early garage Bodyguard. The Bodyguard is probably the most common of Ernie's fixed blades, but rarely do you see a early black bladed model. The sculpted handle is also representative of this particular model but most of the examples I've seen are later models with green micarta handles rather than the black micarta. Also setting this knife apart from later knives is the kydex sheath with the paracord holes and original paracord still attached to the sheath. The newer Bodyguard's have kydex sheaths molded to the knife without the paracord holes and paracord." (Sniper308 on the USN, Emerson Historian and Collector)

"That was a very popular knife, especially with Team guys, but that one is a special version. To see one like that, with black out blade and handles, and the deep contouring on the handles, makes me think it originally went to Coronado. It has a SpecWar logo, but a very early knife - probably one of the first knives to get that logo and did so because of its probable owner's profession. Nicest Bodyguard I've ever seen!" (jbravo on the USN, Preeminent Emerson Historian)
