Ernie used his Viper-logo for only about 2 years!
Now that Jon is a special knife!
Everyone knows Ernie's Halfmoom logo, which he used on his Pretacs and early Tacticals throughout most of the '80s.
In 1988, Ernest introduced his Viper Models, which wore his then-new Viper logo. It was part of his seismic change to making only tactical knives. The Viper Logo lasted only two years until sometime in 1990. Other knives he made during that time that were not Vipers he marked with his Halfmoon logo.
The Original Viper 1 model was designed for soldiers to carry while wearing their dress uniforms. The Original Viper 1 could sit nearly invisible in a front pocket. I firmly believe that a soldier or sailor initially owned this knife.
