Correct-grind Right Hand 6 that Ernie gifted to his host when he was invited as the only Foreign Maker at a Show in Japan
"In 1999, Ernie was invited to the Knife Show in Seki City Japan. Seki is to Japanese knives what Detroit used to be to American cars - ground zero. So Ernie felt this was a big big honor, and wanted to bring special knives as gifts to hosts and for sales.
Japan has some obscure rules about Tanto blades, so Ernie decided to put Spearpoint blades on CQC-6 handles, and put the chisel on the correct side for a righty. There were 17 knives total, with 8 being plain steel, Beadblasted Titanium bolsters, and green Micarta scales; the other nine were all Damascus bladed, hi polish Titanium bolsters, and MOP handles. All were Righties.
To my best belief, the green & steel knives were handed out as presents to his Japanese hosts, and the Pearl & Damascus ones were put on sale at the show.
As an aside, one of the Japanese invited Ernie to his smithy, and Ernie handmade a billet of Damascus steel and made at least one knife out of it. I think he still owns that one.
And with only 2 examples having made it back to the US (private person-to-person sales,) Ernie's JMO-6 is the only important Emerson Custom model that I have not yet handled.
