Slide Up the Front "Bolster" up and the blade pops out about 30 degrees. Use your other hand to pivot it the rest of the way to open Like winding a fine watch, it is an experience that that get even better each time you do it. Then Slide Up that "Bolster" again when it is time to return the blade to rest--equally satisfying, albeit a little sadder.
