I traded a lot to get this beauty--it is a full custom Prototype by Ron Lake, the man really hit this one out of the park.
First he stepped out of his comfort zone and made very tactical (albeit fine tactical) in look and feel. Then he made it as good as he could.
- He made every single part with the exception of the washers--those he only thinned and made more round.
- Integral Aluminum Frame / Bolsters
- One-Handed Nail-Nick Opener
- Then once deployed its lock is engaged with a Button-lock
- Then the Button-lock is locked in place with the Lever that operates (is) the Lake And Walker Knife Safety (LAWKS) System...when the Lever is pushed forward it prevents the Button-lock from being depressed--keeping the blade locked either opened or closed. A simple and push or pull with one's thumb sets the LAWKS--and both Lock and Unlock are confirmed with a crisp and loud click.
- The scales are some kind of plastic that Ron Lake machined to provide a great grip, but without sharp edges to be very comfortable to hold and use (if one had the balls.)
- The Custom Pivot is both aesthetically and functionally outstanding--Ron employed a small set screw to prevent the pivot from getting out of adjustment.
- Fit and Finish are of course as perfect as can be hand-made--that is who Ron Lake is, and what each of his knives are.
- And there is another thing that is really special about this piece--you will notice on the blade the words "Patent Pending." Ron created this knife to be the confirmation of an idea he had in his head for a long time....
Folks at about 1 inch before the knife is completely closed, it mechanically takes over and finishes the close, it 'sucks" the blade in, kind of like those new cars that "self-parks" for you. - The blade is just under 3", and the knife OAL is just over 6 1/2".
