Michael Created this Very Special Piece to Celebrate his 35 Years Making Knives!
- Handle Treatment is Champlave (similar to Cloisionne - enamel with divisions made using gold or silver flat wire.)
Cloisinne is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects using vitreous enamel, gemstones, glass, and other materials
This knife is technically Champlave, one piece of metal and the divisions/pockets are integral. They are traditionally carved, punched, etched, etc.
The enameling process is the same for both Champlave or Cloisionne...glass powder is fired many times and with many layers to get the desired effect. Michael used opaque enamels (glass) in 410 stainless. The enamel is fired in an enameling kiln. - The Handles (frame) is Anodized 6AL4V Titanium
- The Blade is Devon Thomas Stainless Damascus
- The Arrow Button is and Rear Pivot are 17-4 Stainless Steel
- That is a Gold-Sterling Mokume Tab securing
- There is a Solid Gold Pin in the Blade
- The Backstrap is also Stainless Damascus
- Action is perfect...not a single iota too little or too much resistance
- Pushing the Arrow Button is similary satifying to Winding a Patek Repeater
- Michael made each the screws that he used for this knife
